New Senfl Edition
Ludwig Senfl (ca. 1490-1543) can be considered a key figure for the music of Central Europe in the period between Heinrich Isaac (1450/5-1517) and Orlando di Lasso (1532?-1594). Although the outstanding quality of his oeuvre has long been recognized, the majority of his works are still not accessible in an edition.
The New Senfl Edition (NSE) fills this research gap and offers a systematic edition with a philologically reliable musical text and a critical apparatus that follows the most modern editorial standards. In order to free Senfl's work from a too narrowly conceived, nationalistic historiography of music, the NSE is published in English. Its appearance in print and online (open access) makes Senfl's music internationally accessible and finally enables a comprehensive - scholarly and practical - exploration of this composer's sonorous work.
The New Senfl Edition is published in the series Denkmäler der Tonkunst in Österreich.
