Tatjana Marković

Tatjana Marković (Belgrade/Vienna) studied musicology and received her Ph.D. at the University of Arts in Belgrade. She was Associate Professor at the Department of Musicology at the University of Arts in Belgrade (1993–2015) and was teaching at the IMI, University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna; at the Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz, the University of Ljubljana. Marković is chair of the IMS Study Group “Music and Cultural Studies”, editor of the open access journal TheMA (Vienna), and a member of the editorial team of the journals Studia Musicologica (Budapest) and Glasbeno-pedagoški zbornik (Ljubljana). She is member of the MGG Advisory board for former Yugoslavia and other southeast European countries, as well as of the Academic Studies Press (book series Studies in the History and Sociology of Music) in Brookline, MA. Has been chief or member of numerous international projects and was working on the critical edition of Joseph Friebert’s Singspiel Das Serail (ca. 1778) at Don Juan Archiv Wien. Marković has published on 18th–21st-century music (southeast European opera and music historiography, Russian and German speaking opera music). Books: Transfigurations of Serbian Romanticism: Music in the context of cultural studies (in Serbian, Belgrade, 2005); Historical and analytical-theoretical coordinates of style in music (in Serbian, Belgrade, 2009); Galina Ivanovna Ustovl’skaja – Komponieren als Obsession (with Andreas Holzer; Köln, Weimar, Vienna 2013); Music cultures in sounds, words and images (with Antonio Baldassarre, Vienna 2019); Envoicing the nation. Emerging national opera traditions in the Balkans (forthcoming). She is the editor of numerous books and author of papers published internationally in Serbian, Croatian, English, German, Russian and Chinese.

Miško Šuvaković received his PhD from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Arts in Belgrade. He has been Professor of Applied Aesthetics since 1996 and is currently dean of the Faculty of Media and Communication, University Singidunum, Belgrade, as well as president of the Society of Architecture and Visual Arts Serbia.
