Lectures about Theatre

The history of opera is not a linear one – the project (Re-)Plantatio Operæ investigates the manifold and sometimes ambiguous processes of plantatio and replantation of “opera” as developed at the end of the 16th century and established in Europe between the 17th and 19th century. This project will also include a “practical” part: a series of lectures held by opera directors, reflecting on the present and future state of opera according to their experiences. These opera directors have been selected from all continents – cities with a long opera tradition as well as places where opera has been installed only a few years ago. These lectures will be published in the series Lectures about Theatre.
